The BC NDP will contest the October 24 provincial election with 92 candidates—one short of a complete slate—after failing to nominate anyone in Peace River North, Elections BC confirmed after nominations closed at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 3.

Only the BC Conservatives fielded candidates in all 93 ridings. The BC Greens are running 73 candidates, CentreBC 35, and OneBC 33. Both CentreBC and OneBC splintered from the provincial Conservatives in recent months.

A BC Conservatives statement said the full slate "reflects the enthusiasm for our party across the province." The BC NDP countered that its roster "is more diverse."

Peace River North has been a Conservative stronghold. In the 2024 election, Conservative Jordan Kealy won with the most votes, while independent Don Davies (formerly with BC Liberals and BC United) and BC NDP's Ian McMahon also ran. For this election, Kealy is running as an independent and Curtis Whitford is the Conservative candidate in the riding.

The NDP's absence from the riding marks a shift from recent contests. The party fielded candidates in all 87 ridings in the 2020 election and all 93 in 2024.

Premier David Eby called the snap election September 22.
