The Naz Kadri Sando goes on sale November 10 at ANIML Steakhouse & Cocktail Den, 420A Wellington St. W., a partnership with former Toronto Maple Leafs player Nazem Kadri. If you have ever walked past that corner, the price is the part you will feel: $91 for one sandwich, a figure chosen to match Kadri's jersey number.
The sandwich is built on A5 Wagyu tenderloin, Japanese shokupan bread and house-made Bulldog sauce. Kadri played for the Leafs from 2009 to 2019, and anyone who followed those years will remember how the team's fortunes rose and fell around him. He is from London, Ont., and now plays for the Colorado Avalanche.
The restaurant says 100 per cent of profits from sandwiches sold will go to the Nazem Kadri Foundation, which focuses on healthcare innovation, mental health, food security and community services.
