A 24-year-old Ajax man has been charged with 11 offences in connection with an arson that damaged multiple homes in August.

Emergency crews responded on August 24 to reports of a residential fire in the area of Rossland Road West and Church Street North in Ajax. Investigators determined that a fire was deliberately set to an unoccupied home and later spread to neighbouring houses, causing significant damage to multiple properties. One neighbouring home was occupied at the time, but residents escaped to safety.

Police said multiple other homes were doused in an accelerant but did not ignite.

Roshvin Crofton of Ajax was arrested on Monday and charged with arson, break and enter, mischief damage to property over $5,000, and breach of probation.

Crofton was scheduled to appear in court the following day. The charges have not been tested in court.

As HOC reported in August 2026, the fire destroyed or damaged three Ajax homes in what was then described as suspicious.
