A funeral was held Saturday in Brampton for Jay'siiah Webb-Long, a 16-year-old whose remains were discovered in remote Saskatchewan last month. Webb-Long was reported missing by his Peel Region family in April 2025, though investigators believe he left Ontario in March 2024. He was living in Pelican Narrows, a northern village in Saskatchewan's boreal forest, at the time of his disappearance.
Saskatchewan RCMP's Homicide Investigation Unit opened a file in July 2025 after determining his disappearance was suspicious. Officers found his remains during a planned search near Pelican Narrows in May 2026. The cause of death has not been released, but police continue to treat the case as a homicide. A GoFundMe campaign set up in Webb-Long's name had raised more than $24,000 of its $26,000 goal as of June 13 to help the family with funeral and travel costs.
