Toronto police have identified Cashie Auguste, 17, as the victim of a fatal shooting near Jane Street and Finch Avenue West in North York on Monday, Sept. 14 around 3:34 p.m.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting and found Auguste with a gunshot wound. Life-saving measures were performed at the scene, and paramedics transported him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

This marks Toronto's 24th homicide of 2026. Superintendent Jack Gurr of Toronto Police 31 Division called it "a very, very sad day," adding: "There is a family in our division who has been traumatized and has a loved one who's not coming home."

No suspects have been identified or arrested in connection with Auguste's death. Police will station an officer at Jane and Finch to speak with witnesses and members of the public. Those struggling as a result of this incident or others can speak with the officer.
