A 19-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting at the U.S. consulate in March.
Zara Jabbi was arrested on Wednesday and faces six charges, including discharge of a firearm at a place, attack on premises of internationally protected persons, and theft of a vehicle.
Toronto police responded to reports of a shooting at the consulate around 5:29 a.m. on March 10. Police allege two individuals exited a white stolen vehicle outside the consulate and fired multiple times at the building. Video surveillance showed the suspects firing while recording on their phones. Shell casings and damage to the glass and doors were found at the scene.
The white vehicle was later found abandoned in Scarborough.
Jabbi was set to appear in court Thursday morning. Toronto police also arrested 18-year-old Sheldon Tracey-Stewart on June 11 in relation to the incident.
While Toronto police lead the investigation, the RCMP and Integrated National Security Enforcement Team have a parallel investigation, treating the incident as a national security threat. The arrests come after Toronto police Const. Marc Pinizzotto, 43, died last week after being shot during search warrants connected to shootings in the city, including at synagogues and the consulate.
