Toronto Blue Jays trade relief pitcher Tommy Nance to Minnesota Twins for prospect Ryan Sprock

The Toronto Blue Jays traded relief pitcher Tommy Nance to the Minnesota Twins on Friday, bringing in 21-year-old prospect Ryan Sprock and international signing bonus pool space in return.
Nance, 35, pitched three seasons with the Blue Jays, compiling a 3.22 ERA over 86.2 innings. This season, he owns a 3.82 ERA through 33 innings. Prior to joining the Jays, he spent time with the Chicago Cubs and Miami Marlins.
Sprock was selected in the eighth round of the 2025 draft by Minnesota. The prospect has played third base, catcher, and outfield during his time in the minor leagues. This season with the single-A Fort Myers Mighty Mussels, he is hitting .306 with five home runs and 37 RBIs in 65 games. He was recently named the Mighty Mussels player of the month for June.
Nance will provide bullpen depth to the Twins, who sit third in the AL Central Division with a 46-48 record. The Blue Jays' bullpen now consists of Patrick Corbin, Mason Fluharty, Chad Dallas, Jeff Hoffman, Adam Macko, Tyler Rogers, and Louis Varland.
