Transit and major road disruptions persisted Thursday as Toronto dealt with damage from Wednesday's severe thunderstorm that brought 50 to 60 millimetres of rain and winds near 100 km/h.
The Don Valley Parkway southbound lanes between the Bayview off-ramp and Don Roadway/Gardiner Expressway West reopened, but DVP northbound lanes remained closed Thursday with crews still working to clear debris. The entire expressway had closed around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. High Park vehicle access was also closed due to a downed tree.
TTC Lines 1 through 6 resumed service after flooding and track blockages, though some trains moved slower due to track maintenance. However, multiple bus routes faced service changes. Route 28 had no eastbound service near Bayview Avenue at Moore Avenue due to road closure. Routes 34, 36, 55, 59, 74, 75, 82, 84, 101, and 103 all operated on detours through various streets depending on flooding and blocked-road conditions. Route 106 details were incomplete. The city and partners continued monitoring road conditions, asking drivers and transit users to use caution and avoid flooded or closed areas.
