GO Transit shuts down two lines this weekend

Lakeshore East and Stouffville lines out entirely; Lakeshore West cut to reduced service Saturday and Sunday.

GO Transit will pull two entire lines from service this weekend to accommodate construction work, forcing commuters to find alternatives or wait for replacement buses.

The Lakeshore East Line — all 50.5 kilometres from Durham to downtown — closes Saturday and Sunday. GO buses will replace trains between Pickering and Union Station, but they won't serve Rouge Hill, Guildwood, Eglinton, Scarborough, or Danforth stations. Riders at those stops should use TTC options instead.

The Stouffville Line (49.6 kilometres) also shuts down entirely this weekend. Replacement buses will run between Old Elm and Unionville, then continue to Union Station. Milliken, Agincourt, and Kennedy stations won't be served by trains or buses — again, TTC is the fallback.

The Lakeshore West Line stays open but service drops to 30-minute intervals between Oakville and Union, and hourly between West Harbour and Union. Some westbound trips will include 15-to-30-minute connection times.

With another busy weekend of events planned across the city, riders are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time.
