Toronto is trading seasonal weather for summer-like heat and humidity starting Tuesday, with conditions peaking mid-to-late week.

The mercury rises to 28 C on Tuesday, feeling closer to 33 C with humidity. Wednesday will be very muggy with a high of 30 C and a humidex of 36. Thursday stays hot and sticky at 31 C with a humidex near 38.

The humidity brings wet weather too. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected Tuesday evening and again on Wednesday and Thursday. Overnight temperatures will hover between 18 and 20 C with little relief from the sticky conditions.

The humidity eases slightly by Friday but humidex values will still sit in the low 30s as the FIFA World Cup gets underway. Summer officially arrives June 21.

The city's summer outlook is tracking cooler and wetter than average, though that doesn't mean no warm days—rather fewer extended heat waves.
