Line 6 Finch West shut down early Tuesday morning and remained out of service through mid-afternoon due to a communication issue, leaving commuters waiting for shuttle buses in brutal heat.
The TTC announced the closure just after 8 a.m. on June 30. As of 1 p.m., shuttle buses were running between Finch West and Humber College stations while maintainers worked to restore service.
Line 6 opened December 7, 2025, and has already suffered numerous full-line closures in its brief lifespan. The outage came just two weeks after an unplanned closure of Line 5 Eglinton during the opening days of the FIFA World Cup festivities in Toronto. The timing was particularly difficult given the orange heat warning in effect, with humidex values in the mid-40s—conditions that made waiting outdoors for replacement buses dangerous.
