Toronto police are investigating a possible incident of violence against a parking enforcement officer after the driver of a white 2017 Mercedes Benz C63S convertible allegedly struck the officer with his vehicle over being issued a ticket.

According to police, the alleged incident occurred at Queens Quay East and Richardson Street. The parking enforcement officer suffered minor injuries. Police said the Fail to Remain—Personal Injury Collision investigation remains ongoing.

The incident comes as assaults against parking enforcement officers have been a concern in the city. In 2024, former Toronto Police Association president Jon Reid responded to a steep rise in assaults against parking enforcement officers. "They do not deserve to be cursed at, pushed, punched, let alone have to jump out of the way of a moving vehicle," he said at a news conference. "They deserve to go home to their families and feel safe and unscathed." Following an awareness campaign that year, the number of occurrences dropped significantly.
