Karen Swatogor, 72, of Toronto, has been identified as the victim of a fatal shooting Monday afternoon in the parking lot of Providence Healthcare on St. Clair Avenue East near Warden Avenue in Scarborough.
Swatogor was found with gunshot wounds shortly after 12:30 p.m. An unidentified man was also found with gunshot wounds at the scene. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Swatogor was a patient at the hospital at the time of the shooting.
Toronto police released Swatogor's identity Friday. "There is no outstanding suspect and no risk to public safety," police said in a statement.
The identity of the second victim has not been released. Police have not stated whether they believe the shooting was a murder-suicide, and no motive has been disclosed. Other outlets reported the two are believed to be a married couple.
