A woman is dead after being struck on Pine Valley Drive north of Major Mackenzie Drive in Vaughan on Sunday between 8 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. She was found on Tuesday, and York Regional Police are now investigating the incident as an apparent hit-and-run.

Police have closed Pine Valley Drive between Major Mackenzie Drive and Ballantyne Boulevard as investigators canvass the area for witnesses and video evidence. No description of the suspect vehicle has been released.

Anyone with information about the collision is urged to contact York Regional Police. The victim's name and age have not been disclosed.

This is the third fatal hit-and-run in the Greater Toronto Area in recent months, following deaths in Mississauga in July and Scarborough in September.
