After more than a year in limbo, Burdy is back. The beloved chicken parm sandwich operation that closed its food bus in July 2025 opened a permanent restaurant on Granville Island this weekend at 1441 Anderson Street in the Chain and Forge building.
The soft opening ran Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with lines that lasted until the kitchen sold out each day. Owners, friends, family, and long-time fans showed up — the ownership group posted simply: "It's finally happening."
The news has been coming for several months. Ownership announced the Granville Island location back in January 2026, initially hoping for a late-spring opening. The delays stretched on, but the menu that emerged includes the signature chicken parm sandwich, an eggplant sandwich, lunch and breakfast sandwiches, pizza pockets, and fries.
Regular operating dates and hours have not been announced yet. The reopening caps a long wait for the community that watched the food bus become a destination — customers would line up for a single sandwich, and the closure left a real gap on the street-food scene. Granville Island, which has seen its share of restaurant turnover, now has a proven draw moving in.
