Perched high on Grouse Mountain inside a cozy mountaintop chalet, The Observatory offers one of the Lower Mainland's most distinctive dining experiences—refined cuisine paired with expansive windows overlooking Vancouver, Burrard Inlet, and the sparkling skyline beyond.

Unlike a traditional dinner reservation, an evening at The Observatory begins with a scenic ascent aboard the Blue Grouse Gondola or iconic Red Skyride. In 30 minutes, you travel from the city's heart to the mountain's summit, trading busy streets for alpine views and fresh forest air—a uniquely Vancouver prelude that's part of the experience.

Once at the summit, you're welcomed into a warm, sophisticated-yet-inviting atmosphere. The restaurant offers three- or four-course dining experiences for $84 or $104 respectively. The menu embraces locally sourced ingredients wherever possible, including produce grown right on Grouse Mountain. During the growing season, vegetables and herbs are cultivated on the mountaintop. The resort's onsite pollinator garden supports honeybee colonies that produce Grouse Mountain honey, bringing the sense of place directly to your plate.

The beverage program features signature cocktails, wines from B.C.'s Okanagan Valley, and local craft beer, cider, and spirits. Every drink choice reinforces the West Coast story.

What makes The Observatory especially appealing is how seamlessly it blends escapism with accessibility. While the restaurant feels worlds away from everyday life, its location in Vancouver's backyard makes it surprisingly easy to turn an ordinary evening into something extraordinary. Guests also receive complimentary mountain admission from 4 p.m. with every reservation, so you can arrive early to explore the scenery, visit resident grizzly bears Grinder and Coola, or simply breathe in the alpine air before dining.

It's a rare combination: a meal that tastes like you flew somewhere, but you're still within city limits.
