Lucky's Doughnuts lands on Canada's vegan shortlist

Vancouver bakery makes PETA's top 10 for animal-free sweets ahead of National Doughnut Day.

Lucky's Doughnuts has made PETA's list of Canada's 10 best vegan doughnut options, announced ahead of National Doughnut Day on June 5.

The Vancouver bakery joins nine other animal product-free doughnut shops across the country. PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk said the shops are "serving delicious sweets that leave animals in peace — and leave doughnut lovers smiling."

Lucky's operates multiple locations throughout Vancouver, including on Main Street and Thurlow Street, and offers both vegan and non-vegan treats. The recognition highlights the city's growing plant-based food scene, particularly in the indulgent-dessert space where vegan options were once harder to find.

The other shops on the list span from Barrie to Charlottetown, but Lucky's is the sole Vancouver representative — a quiet win for a city with no shortage of doughnut shops.
