The restaurant landscape in Vancouver has shifted recently, with several closures hitting the dining scene. Trocadero Pizza and Steak House, an institution on Nanaimo Street that operated for 57 years, closed its doors in May after opening one of its busiest months on record in February. "The kindness we've received has been deeply moving and truly overwhelming," the restaurant posted before closing. Miku Richmond, the sushi restaurant that opened in February 2026 at River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, has also quietly shuttered. Aburi Restaurants Canada, which owns the Miku brand, ceased involvement in the location on or about May 15. The space will be taken over by a new restaurant called Koi. Other recent closures include Robba da Matti Yaletown, part of a group known for authentic Italian cuisine; the storefront has been papered up and the patio removed. The group still operates locations in Gastown and the West End. Bar Terrasse, which opened just two months ago on East 10th Avenue, also closed after what the owners described as a "structural decision" unrelated to the concept's reception. Pepper Lunch Richmond also shuttered after more than a decade of operation. The volatility reflects ongoing challenges in Vancouver's restaurant sector, where economic pressures continue to affect both new and long-established establishments.
