Robba da Matti's original Yaletown location has closed suddenly with no public announcement, marking the second closure for the family-run Italian restaurant chain in recent months.
The restaurant at 1127 Mainland St., in the heart of Yaletown, first opened in 2011 as Yaletown L'Antipasto before the ownership rebranded it Robba da Matti in 2019. The chain expanded to include locations in Kitsilano and Gastown, but the Kitsilano branch has also closed.
Robba da Matti is known for its fresh pastas and cosy spaces. The company's website was not operational at time of closure, but ownership confirmed that the West End and Gastown locations remain active. The sudden closure of the flagship location, which predates the name Robba da Matti itself, marks a significant contraction for the local chain.
