July 1 is bringing a full slate of Canada Day celebrations across Metro Vancouver, with major events planned from downtown to the suburbs.
Canada Together at Canada Place is one of the largest July 1 celebrations in the country. The festivities run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, with free admission across outdoor spaces at Canada Place, Jack Poole Plaza, and surrounding city streets. The CN Family Zone, Indigenous Marketplace, and an Expo 86 exhibit will draw families, while performances from Rebecca Sichon, The Matinee, The Strumbellas, and others headline the entertainment. A mascot dance-off adds to the fun.
In Surrey, the City of Surrey's annual Canada Day celebration takes over the Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre in Cloverdale from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. The free, all-ages event features interactive activities, food trucks, vendors, and a spectacular fireworks show. Country artist Josh Ross, the first male Canadian country artist in nearly three decades to reach number one on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, headlines the musical lineup.
Tsawwassen's sixth annual Car Cruise kicks off the day with Cars and Coffee at the A&W near Walmart at Tsawwassen Commons starting at 8 a.m. As many as 300 custom and classic vehicles are expected to assemble, with the cruise running for about an hour from 10 to 11 a.m. through neighbourhoods including Boundary Bay and Beach Grove. Afterward, Eye Kandy Kustoms opens its doors from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 644 Derwent Way on Annacis Island for an open house where visitors can tour the custom car shop and meet staff.
For soccer fans, Pitchside Patio at Bentall Centre offers a free outdoor viewing party on select dates from June 11 through July 15. The Dunsmuir Patio features a 12-foot outdoor screen with sound, lounge seating, turf viewing areas, food offerings, and a licensed bar by FUNK Coffee Bar. Over 20 matches are scheduled throughout the tournament, with varying times based on the match schedule.
