Feast of Fields is returning to UBC Farm on August 23, bringing the annual harvest celebration back to the 24-hectare organically managed urban farm in the heart of Vancouver.
For three hours (1 p.m. to 4 p.m.), guests wander from tent to tent tasting food and beverages from some of the Lower Mainland's finest chefs, bakers, food artisans, wine and beer makers, and beverage producers. All tastings are included in the ticket price.
The event is organized by FarmFolk CityFolk and raises funds for programs advancing resilient, sustainable, and equitable food systems across B.C. Julia Zado, engagement manager with the organization, says the festival is fundamentally about connection. "Feast of Fields is a celebration of the people behind our food," she said. "It is an opportunity to connect directly with the farmers, chefs and producers who are shaping British Columbia's local food system, all while enjoying local flavours in the place where they begin."
UBC Farm sits on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Musqueam people. Founded by students in 2001, the farm houses various types of crop fields, orchards, Indigenous gardens, pasture, and forested land where over 200 varieties of fruits, vegetables, and herbs are grown.
This year introduces the new Forks Up Award, allowing attendees to vote for their favourite bite or sip. The winning presenter receives a commemorative plaque, locally sourced prizes, and a mention in Edible Vancouver & Wine Country.
VIP packages are available, including one hour of early access from noon to 1 p.m., exclusive food and beverage offerings, a welcome toast, guided farm tour, and concierge services. The event is family-friendly with non-alcoholic beverage tastings for those under 19. Organizers encourage attendees to bike, take transit, or carpool.
Tickets are $22.63, available through Eventbrite.
