Beloved Canadian artist Jane Mortifee is returning to Peninsula Studio Theatre in Surrey for two intimate performances on Sunday, July 12, following last year's sold-out shows.
Mortifee, a 2002 BC Entertainment Hall of Fame inductee with a 45-year career spanning music, acting, and writing, will be joined by pianist and arranger Bill Sample and vocalist Darlene Cooper—both from the musical duo the Wild Blue Herons. The pairing promises what organizers describe as "a masterclass in soul, jazz, R&B, and timeless storytelling."
Sample has served as musical director for David Foster and collaborated with Celine Dion, Bryan Adams, and Peter Cetera. He played on Pixar's Grammy-winning Ratatouille soundtrack. Cooper is a jazz, soul, and gospel vocalist who has worked with Leon Bibb and Shari Ulrich and is a noted educator and former choral director for the Marcus Moseley Chorale.
Performances run at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Peninsula Studio Theatre in Centennial Park (14600 North Bluff Rd.). Tickets are available at peninsulaproductions.org, www.showpass.com, or by calling 604-536-8335.
