The 54th annual Tsawwassen Sun Festival returns to South Delta for a three-day B.C. Day celebration running Saturday, August 1, through Monday, August 3, transforming Winskill Park and surrounding venues into a hub of community pride and activity.

First launched in 1972 by the Business Improvement Association, the massive long-weekend roster promises thousands of attendees a sprawling marketplace, sports tournaments, a children's midway and live main stage music featuring the Jason Lane Band and Josh Moore.

"Our local businesses are incredibly generous in supporting our event in whatever way they can," said Elaine Campbell, who has served on the organizing committee for 16 years. "I think events like this have an impact that goes beyond just the weekend itself. It brings in people from surrounding areas, which helps local businesses through increased foot traffic and exposure. At the same time, it creates opportunities for people to connect, celebrate, and build a stronger sense of community."

Athletes and competitors can head to Dennison Park for volleyball and pickleball tournaments, or check out the skateboard competition at the South Delta Recreation Centre. Softball action will run throughout the weekend.

The annual Rotary Parade—a yearly crowd-pleaser—returns Monday, stepping off at 11 a.m. Sponsored by dozens of companies, the route begins at 53A Street and Saratoga Drive, travelling along 12th Avenue and southbound down 56th Street before wrapping up at 8A Avenue.

Attendees can cool off and refuel at the Winskill Park Beer Gardens, enjoy daily TOOBS BBQ, or kick off Monday morning with the Boundary Bay Lions pancake breakfast. On B.C. Day, Dennison Park will host the Classic Car Show from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

"The Car Show has definitely become a favourite attraction," said Campbell, "but what I really love is the variety. Whether it's the Drive-In Movie, BINGO, the children's zone, or the many other activities, there's truly something for everyone during the Sun Fest weekend."

Families can gather at Tsawwassen Mills at 6:30 p.m. Saturday for an outdoor drive-in screening of Pixar's HOPPERS.
