With just eight teams remaining in the FIFA World Cup, Metro Vancouver football fans have plenty of spots to catch the quarter-finals. Four games remain: France versus Morocco on Thursday, July 9 at 1 p.m.; Spain versus Belgium on Friday, July 10 at noon; Norway versus England on Saturday, July 11 at 2 p.m.; and Argentina versus Switzerland on Saturday at 6 p.m. (all times local).
BC Place may not be hosting any more games, but the region still has robust viewing options. The official FIFA Fan Festival at Hastings Park offers both free amphitheatre space and ticketed seating, with additional screens around the park. The Shipyards in North Vancouver will open for all four games with an outdoor screen and seating.
Surrey's Soccer Fan Zones at Civic Plaza and Cloverdale Agriplex are running their Full Fan Zone Experience with live music. UBC's Soccer in the Square continues on campus at Norman MacKenzie Square, viewable from the Sports Illustrated pub. Junction Public Market on Granville Street shows games free, surrounded by food stalls and dog-friendly seating. The Amazing Brentwood offers a free outdoor screen in Burnaby, while Langley Events Centre hosts free community watch parties with a beer garden.
Indoor options include the Vogue Theatre (free with online reservation, plus paid seating options), Hollywood Theatre in Kitsilano (free), and the Rio Theatre in East Vancouver (free with online RSVP suggested). Canada Square at the Library Square Pub shows games on wall-to-wall screens with tickets starting at $20 including a beer. Red Card, a soccer-focused pub on Granville, operates first-come, first-served. Parq Casino fires up a 50-foot screen with no tickets needed.
Dublin Calling offers tickets starting at $15 for standing room. English supporters can head to Greta on Saturday for the Norway match—ground zero for the local supporters group—with $10 advance entry including a beer, DJ, and vintage jersey vendor. Select Cineplex locations across the region, including International Village, SilverCity Riverport, and Cineplex Cinemas Coquitlam, are also showing games.
