Mission Memorial Hospital's emergency department will close for overnight shifts at least eight times between now and early July due to physician staffing shortages.
The first closure begins Saturday, June 20, at 5 p.m. and runs until Sunday, June 21, at 8 a.m. Additional closures are scheduled for June 23-24, June 24-25, June 27-28, June 28-29, June 30-July 1, July 3-4, and July 4-5.
Fraser Health confirmed there are no further vacant physician shifts in July beyond those already listed. During closures, emergency-trained nurses will remain on site to provide basic care, redirect patients, and transfer those with urgent needs to a neighbouring hospital.
All other services at Mission Memorial Hospital will remain available during the emergency department interruptions.
