Porker Face, the Burnaby all-you-can-eat hot spot known for its sous-vide pork belly, is closing after its 10-year lease comes to an end.

The restaurant announced the closure on social media, stating: "This is not a decision we wanted to make, but due to circumstances beyond our control, our journey at this location is coming to an end." Guests can still visit the restaurant at 4455 Lougheed Highway until Saturday, August 15.

Opened in 2024 by the same team behind Sooda Korean Bistro (which operates in Burnaby and Vancouver and went viral for its 18-inch sushi roll), Porker Face specialized in grilled pork belly. A staff member handled all prep work — turning on the grill, cooking the pork belly and sides like onions, mushrooms, and spicy bean sprouts, then returning with scissors to cut each piece into bite-sized portions. Each piece of pork belly was cooked sous-vide beforehand, greatly reducing cooking time on the grill.

Fans shared their sadness over the impending closure. "Aww man, you guys will be missed," one person wrote. "Noooooooooooooo, I loved this place," shared another.

Porter Face thanked their supporters in their closure announcement: "Over the past 10 years, this space has been filled with countless memories — first as SOODA, and then as Porkerface. To every guest who walked through our doors, supported us, celebrated with us, and became part of our story: Thank you from the bottom of our hearts."

The closure comes one day after it was revealed that the popular Fable Diner location in Mount Pleasant will also close, with its final day of service set for Sunday, August 23. Fable Diner cited an inability to secure a favourable long-term lease or negotiate its ongoing financial obligations.
