Stranger sexual assault reported along BC Parkway near Ron McLean Park in Burnaby

Burnaby RCMP are investigating a reported sexual assault that occurred on August 4 along the BC Parkway near Ron McLean Park.
The incident took place between 5:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. as a woman was walking eastbound on the pathway near Rumble Street and Hedley Avenue. According to police, an unknown man approached the woman from behind, passed her and allegedly struck her on the buttocks before leaving the area on foot.
The suspect is described as approximately 5'5" with a medium build. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a white T-shirt and loose-fitting black shorts.
Investigators are working to gather additional evidence and identify the suspect. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Burnaby RCMP.
This marks the second sexual assault reported along the BC Parkway in recent months, as HighOnCity reported in July when Burnaby RCMP sought witnesses after a similar assault near Royal Oak SkyTrain Station.
