Village Farms' large-scale cannabis operation in East Ladner has completed its first harvest in the expanded Delta 2 greenhouse and is ramping toward full production capacity.

The company's expansion project, which began last fall, converts 550,000 square feet of the 1.1 million-square-foot Delta 2 greenhouse to cannabis cultivation. The first phase harvest succeeded, and cultivation has begun in the second phase with an expected harvest in late August 2026.

Once fully operational, the Delta 2 conversion will produce 40 metric tonnes of dried, trimmed flower per quarter. Combined with other operations, Village Farms will operate 2.2 million square feet of cannabis production capacity.

The company is also accelerating technology upgrades in response to increasing demand, with lighting and other enhancements expected by year's end. Village Farms owns an additional 2.6 million square feet of greenhouse capacity through its adjacent Delta 1 facility, currently growing vegetables, which could eventually shift to cannabis as global demand rises.

Meanwhile, Rubicon Organics, another East Ladner grower, announced that its Cascadia indoor cultivation facility in Hope, British Columbia has achieved Good Agricultural and Collection Practices (GACP) certification—a globally recognized standard for medicinal cannabis production. The company's Delta-based Pacifica facility already holds this certification, enabling both to serve domestic and international markets. The 47,500-square-foot Cascadia facility adds 4,500 kilograms of annual production capacity, bringing Rubicon's total to 15,500 kilograms.
