Arrest made in Maple Ridge shooting that left one man hospitalized
A 44-year-old man known to police was arrested Thursday in connection with a Tuesday evening shooting at the Centennial Motel in Maple Ridge.

An arrest has been made in a shooting that occurred Tuesday evening, July 21, in Maple Ridge. A 44-year-old male suspect, known to police, was taken into custody on Thursday, July 23, without incident.
Around 7 p.m. on July 21, numerous RCMP cruisers and unmarked police vehicles converged on the Centennial Motel and mobile home park on the south side of Lougheed Highway in the 21600-block following reports of gunshots and a two-hour standoff. Police discovered a 32-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Investigators determined the incident stemmed from an altercation between the suspect and the victim, who knew each other. The victim remains in hospital in stable condition. The Maple Ridge RCMP Serious Crimes Unit is leading the ongoing investigation. Police say there is no further risk to the public.
