Man shot in Maple Ridge dies nearly two weeks after Aug. 18 incident

A 56-year-old man found shot inside a parked vehicle near 236 Street and 114A Avenue in Maple Ridge's Cottonwood neighbourhood died Aug. 31 from his injuries, nearly two weeks after the shooting on Aug. 18 around 10 p.m.
Maple Ridge RCMP responded to the scene and initially investigated. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team took over the case after the man's death, elevating it to a homicide investigation. Police believe the shooting was targeted and say the victim was known to police. The man's identity has not been released.
"Investigators continue to work with the victim's family and friends to gain an understanding of his activities, relationships and movements leading up to his death," Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT said.
