Mount Pleasant assault suspect arrested after unprovoked restaurant attack
Police charged 37-year-old Victor Coscarella with assault causing bodily harm after a restaurant worker suffered a dislocated shoulder on June 2.
Vancouver Police arrested a 37-year-old man in connection with an unprovoked assault on a restaurant worker in Mount Pleasant on June 2.
Victor Coscarella, who recently arrived in Vancouver from Ontario, was taken into custody after officers spotted him throwing an object at a vehicle around 11:30 a.m. When police attempted to arrest him, he fled. Officers located him in a nearby bush and took him into custody.
While Coscarella was in custody, VPD learned of a separate report: a restaurant worker had been assaulted and suffered a dislocated shoulder. The suspect in custody matched the description of the attacker.
Constable Megan Lui said the assault appeared unprovoked and the motive remains unknown. Coscarella has been charged with assault causing bodily harm and obstructing a peace officer. He is currently in custody awaiting his bail hearing.
VPD noted that Coscarella has been the subject of over five police calls this week alone. The department did not release details about which restaurant the worker was employed at or specific addresses where the incidents occurred.
