Algerian supporters at BC Place said they loved Vancouver, even after their team's heartbreaking loss.
On Thursday, July 2, Switzerland defeated Algeria 2-0 in one of the tournament's dreariest days weather-wise. Yet the roughly 20 Algerian fans interviewed said they enjoyed the city's friendly inhabitants, beautiful nature, and fun things to do. Many raved about BC Place, calling it the highlight of their trip.
"Everything is nice about Vancouver. The people are nice. Nature is nice. This is our second home," one fan said.
When asked about their favourite thing about the city, multiple fans pointed to the stadium itself. "The stadium," another supporter said simply, his friend agreeing. The fans took the loss in stride, maintaining smiles and positive attitudes despite the rain—and proved that even a World Cup defeat can't dampen Vancouver's appeal to visitors.
