A 30-year-old woman has died from injuries she sustained in an electric scooter crash near Commercial and Venables on July 3, Vancouver Police confirm.
The woman was travelling westbound on Venables Street when she collided with the side of a vehicle. She struck her head on the ground and was conscious when emergency responders arrived and transported her to hospital. She died from her injuries on July 12.
Police say the driver of the vehicle stopped immediately at the scene. The woman was not wearing a helmet, which is against the law.
The death follows a separate e-scooter crash over the weekend in Coal Harbour that sent a 54-year-old woman to hospital with a head injury and broken collarbone. That rider also was not wearing a helmet. Police are reminding riders that helmets are legally required.
