Former NHL player Link Gaetz wanted on assault charges

Police are searching for former NHL player Link Gaetz, 57, who faces charges of assault and mischief under $5,000 in an unprovoked attack on a taxi driver in Maple Ridge on September 17, 2025.
According to the RCMP, Gaetz abruptly told the driver to stop after being picked up, then punched the driver repeatedly in the face and tried to break the vehicle's security camera before breaking the windshield and fleeing.
Gaetz has an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Police describe him as six feet four, 252 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes. The RCMP have urged the public to help locate him.
A Vancouver native, Gaetz was drafted by the Minnesota North Stars in 1988 and played 65 NHL games with Minnesota and San Jose over three seasons, compiling six goals, eight assists, and 412 penalty minutes.
