The Georgia Viaduct will close Saturday, May 30, from 6 a.m. to at least 8 p.m. to allow removal of a crane at a nearby development at 150 W. Georgia, at the corner of Beatty Street.

The closure affects the westbound direction — vehicles and pedestrians heading from downtown toward East Vancouver won't be able to cross. Dunsmuir Viaduct, which carries traffic into downtown, will remain open.

The City of Vancouver expects the work to finish Saturday. If it doesn't, the closure could extend until 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Cyclists will also be blocked from the viaduct during the closure.

If you're heading east on the weekend, plan an alternate route — the Cambie Street Bridge and Granville Street Bridge are your closest options.
