Oak Street will close entirely in both directions between W 10th and W 12th avenues starting early Thursday, Sept. 10, through Sept. 22 for 24-hour crane operations supporting Vancouver Coastal Health's Vancouver General Hospital Operating Room Renewal Project.
Access to residences, businesses, and health services in the area will be maintained, though the city warns that those travelling through should expect delays. If you're visiting Vancouver General Hospital or other facilities within the 10th Avenue health precinct, plan an alternate route and allow extra travel time. VPD traffic control will be on site to manage intersections outside the closure zone.
W 10th and W 12th avenues will remain open with intermittent closures. The W 10th Avenue bikeway stays open for cyclists. Bus routes continue with some detours — check TransLink's website for details. Drivers must follow all detours and observe 'No Parking' and 'No Stopping' signs; sidewalks may close periodically but pedestrians can still walk on Oak Street.
