Metro Vancouver will see temperatures reaching 30°C inland this weekend, marking one of the warmest stretches so far in 2026.

Environment and Climate Change Canada forecasts a high of 22°C on the coast Saturday, but 29°C inland — with a humidex of 30°C. Sunday gets warmer still, with inland temperatures expected to hit 31°C. Monday will cool slightly to 29°C inland.

These temperatures are above the seasonal normal of 19°C for mid-June. Last year, June 13 saw a high of around 18°C at Vancouver International Airport.

BC Hydro says the system is ready for the demand spike. Peak loads on Monday are forecast at 8,500 megawatts — potentially higher depending on temperatures and World Cup watch-party activity, which the Crown utility expects will drive energy use as younger adults host gatherings with multiple screens and appliances running simultaneously. Despite the heat and increased usage, overall demand remains well below peak winter levels.
