A 43-year-old man is dead following an altercation Wednesday night in West Vancouver, homicide police said Thursday, June 25.
West Vancouver Police responded shortly after midnight to a home in the Squamish Nation village of X̱wemelch'stn after reports of an altercation. Officers found the man pronounced dead at the scene.
A 35-year-old man was arrested in Vancouver. Police say the incident is alleged to have stemmed from a dispute between the suspect and victim, who are related. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is now leading the investigation alongside West Vancouver Police, Integrated Forensic Identification Services, and the B.C. Coroners Service.
Police say there are no other suspects and no ongoing risk to the public.
