One suspect charged, one at large after five-inch slash on Granville Street

A 19-year-old was slashed across the face during a robbery on Granville Street near Smithe early on August 8. The slash, five inches long, ran from the tip of the nose beneath the eye and ended near the eyebrow. The victim was with friends when two men approached; one removed a chain necklace from the victim's neck during the encounter.
Vancouver police arrested Garret William Thomas, 29, on September 29 in the Downtown Eastside. Thomas has been charged with one count of robbery and one count of aggravated assault. He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing. A search warrant was executed at his residence on the same day.
A second suspect in the incident remains at large. Vancouver police have released a photo and are asking the public for help identifying and locating this person. Anyone with information is urged to contact the VPD Major Crime Section at 604-717-2541.
