Vancouver is heading into what meteorologists are calling a "sweet spot" of weather: seven straight days of sunshine from Monday, July 6, through Sunday, July 12, with temperatures hovering at seasonal averages.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) meteorologist Terri Lang explained that the jet stream has shifted, deflecting weather systems north of the Lower Mainland. Monday's temperatures will reach up to 27°C inland, feeling as high as 30°C with humidity, but conditions will cool as an ocean breeze moves in on Tuesday.

"The seasonal average is 21°C for the daily max, and 13°C for the overnight low," Lang said. "Vancouver is in a beautiful sweet spot, with no rain and no fear of the heat for the next little bit, so enjoy it."

Temperatures through the week will remain temperate and dry, hovering between 20°C and 22°C, with overnight lows dipping between 13°C and 16°C. Wildfire smoke may create some haze Monday and Tuesday, potentially causing low-level pollution, but conditions are expected to clear.

However, Lang cautioned that relief won't last. "Into next week, the weather models are wanting to build in an upper ridge, which puts southern B.C. into warmer air. Things are verging on becoming hot again in the interior as well as the Lower Mainland."
