Arepa Boss, the Calgary food stall that has built a devoted following at local makers markets, is opening its first brick-and-mortar location in Marda Loop.
The team announced the news on Instagram, writing: "We've been working behind the scenes on something BIG for the Arepa Boss family. A cozy new spot where the smell of fresh arepas, empanadas, and passion fruit will finally have a place to call home."
Arepas are flatbreads made from maize dough, a staple of South American cuisine, that can be stuffed with meats, vegetables, and other fillings. Arepa Boss has become known not only for the arepas themselves but also for its selection of ready-to-buy sauces stocked in stores across Calgary.
Construction on the new Marda Loop location is currently underway. The team has not yet announced an opening date, but the new spot will allow the business to expand beyond its market-stall roots into a permanent dining space.
