Choux & C brings French pastry to Marda Loop
A husband-and-wife team who left careers in engineering and law opened a bakery in March, offering cream puffs in 10 flavours and espresso drinks.

Choux & C opened its doors in March, bringing French pastry and coffee expertise to Marda Loop. The bakery is run by Ronan and Isabelle, a couple who moved from France to Calgary in 2022 in search of a different life experience.
The pair swapped careers entirely. Ronan was an engineer; Isabelle was a lawyer. After arriving in Calgary, Ronan worked at Avitus Wine Bar, where he developed a passion for creating memorable guest experiences and baking—something he had never professionally done before. Isabelle began working with Monogram Coffee. "Ronan was really detail-oriented and precise in his job, so it's something that really helped him with baking," Isabelle told Dished.
Everything at Choux & C is baked in-house in smaller quantities, putting emphasis on quality and consistency. "We're using French flour, we're using a high-quality butter too, so that makes a lot of importance in the freshness of the products," Isabelle explains. Items often sell out, so arriving early is key.
The star of the show is the Choux à la Crème—cream puffs—with around 10 different flavours at any given time, ranging from vanilla and pistachio to coconut passionfruit. The spot also offers savoury Gougère sandwiches featuring the same choux pastry, loaded with toppings like smoked salmon and pesto chicken.
The coffee menu includes espresso-based beverages and unique offerings like the Breizh Latte, which features salted caramel and buckwheat flavours. Choux & C is open Tuesday to Saturday at 2215 33rd Ave. SW, Unit 121.
