Sea Change Brewing opens Skelly Club on the Beltline with on-site brewing and Flat Boy Burgers

Sea Change Brewing, the Edmonton craft brewery that's dominated Alberta's beer scene since 2017, has finally opened its first Calgary location—and it's no carbon copy of what came before.

Skelly Club landed at 820 11th Ave. SW on the Beltline, in the space that used to house Inner City brewpub. The team spent a year building anticipation with a teaser mural, staying quiet about plans until now. Partner Pete Nguyen told media the goal was simple: give the Calgary spot its own identity rather than replicate the Rumpus Room, Sea Change's Edmonton cocktail bar.

"We didn't want to open up another Rumpus Room, and we wanted to focus on the beer since the brewery is right there," Nguyen said. "Instead of just calling it another Sea Change tap room, it's the Skelly Club, which is just a fun way for us to differentiate."

The space echoes bars from the 1960s and '70s—dark wood, comfortable booths, large bar—but without feeling like a dive. Sea Change's tattoo-culture branding decorates throughout, mixing retro nostalgia with modern edge. The brewery is operational on-site.

Tucked behind the bar, Flat Boy Burgers serves smash burgers, milkshakes, and more—another new addition to the block. Sea Change's Shiddy's spirits line rounds out the drinks.
