Calgary police are asking the public for tips after a suspect fired a gun into the air during a confrontation with a resident in the 100 block of Douglasview Road S.E. in Douglasdale on September 13 around 4 a.m.

A resident became aware of people prowling vehicles in the area and confronted one suspect. When the suspect attempted to leave on foot, the resident followed. The suspect then pulled out a gun and fired it into the air before fleeing the area. No injuries were reported.

Police describe the suspect as standing around 5'8" to 6' tall, wearing a black, grey and white hoodie with a chevron-style pattern, a black baseball hat, pants, a crossbody bag, and a face covering. Police say two people are believed to have been prowling vehicles, though the identity and involvement of the second person have not been determined.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Calgary Police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or through the P3 Tips app.

This incident follows other recent shootings in Calgary neighborhoods: as HOC reported in September, a house in Martindale was sprayed with gunfire as a family slept, and a shooting in Carrington left a resident in serious condition.
