Police seek blue SUV in northeast Calgary extortion case

Calgary police are asking the public's help identifying a vehicle tied to an attempted extortion targeting a South Asian resident in northeast Calgary's Saddle Ridge community.
The victim reported receiving threatening messages on May 10 from an unknown individual demanding money. The suspect allegedly sent a video of a shooting at an unrelated business as an intimidation tactic. While the victim was speaking with investigators, another message arrived displaying video of the victim's own home.
Police launched an investigation and implemented safety measures for the victim and their family. After reviewing security footage from the area, investigators identified a vehicle believed to be involved but have not yet located it or identified the driver.
The vehicle is described as a blue 2005–2006 Hyundai Santa Fe with tinted side windows, rust on the rear driver's-side wheel well, and red tape on the driver's-side taillight.
