Woman killed after truck strikes her at Bow Trail crossing

A woman in her late 30s died Friday after being struck by a commercial truck at the intersection of Bow Trail S.W. and 37 Street S.W., near Westbrook Mall.
The collision happened around 3:40 p.m. as the woman crossed in a marked crosswalk. The truck was turning into the intersection when it hit her. She was taken to hospital, where she died from her injuries.
The driver, a man in his 60s, stayed at the scene. Calgary police say they do not believe speed or impairment were factors in the crash. The intersection closed for several hours during the investigation and reopened Friday night.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
