Woman struck by vehicle on Red Mile suffers life-altering injuries

A woman suffered serious, potentially life-altering injuries Wednesday, September 2 after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of 17 Avenue and 9 Street SW in Calgary.
The collision occurred around 3:30 p.m. One vehicle remained in the intersection while the second, with front-end damage, came to rest on the sidewalk after hitting a planter outside the business Purr. The woman was located in the planter with severe injuries and transported to hospital.
Drivers of both vehicles were assessed at the scene. Emergency Health Services also transported two additional adults to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Calgary police are investigating the cause of the crash. The street remains closed in both directions between 9A Street and 7 Street SW while the investigation continues.
