Statistics Canada reports that manufacturing sales rose three per cent in March to $73.6 billion, the highest level since January 2025, boosted primarily by higher energy prices. Sales rose in nine of the 21 tracked subsectors, with petroleum and coal products leading the way at a 22.7 per cent increase to $9.4 billion. Transportation equipment also grew six per cent to $11.4 billion. However, real-terms sales in energy fell 3.5 per cent, indicating gains were largely price-driven rather than volume-driven.
