Firefighters Battle Blaze at Same Home Twice in 12 Hours
Edmonton Fire Rescue Services responded to a residential fire Tuesday night, then returned to the same address Wednesday morning.
A single-family home in Edmonton's northeast caught fire twice within 12 hours this week, forcing firefighters to respond to the same address two days in a row.
Edmonton Fire Rescue Services arrived at the home on 154 Avenue and 62 Street Tuesday night around 9:20 p.m. and found a fire at the rear exterior. They brought it under control by 10:09 p.m. and officially declared it extinguished at 10:51 p.m. No injuries were reported.
Barely 12 hours later, on-site security noticed smoke emerging from the property again Wednesday morning. Firefighters were called back and extinguished the second fire. Investigators are now trying to determine whether the fires are connected or coincidental.
The cause of both incidents remains under investigation. Duplicate fire calls at the same address are unusual enough to trigger scrutiny—officials will be examining whether the initial fire wasn't fully extinguished, whether structural damage from the first blaze created new fire hazards, or whether the two incidents are unrelated. The back-to-back responses highlight the unpredictability crews face and the importance of thorough scene checks before leaving a property.
