Housing starts surge 17% in April compared to March
CMHC reports annual pace reaches 279,317 units as construction momentum builds
Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. reports that the annual pace of housing starts for April rose 17 per cent compared with March, reaching 279,317 units on a seasonally adjusted basis. The six-month moving average of housing starts climbed 3.2 per cent from March, indicating sustained construction momentum across the country. Rural housing starts were estimated at 13,694 units for April. The increase reflects growing activity in centres with populations over 30,000, signaling renewed confidence in residential development.
